Specialised Entomology Services and Invertebrate Environmental Consultancy
Providing specialised services in invertebrate identification and environmental management for mining, agriculture and land development and local, state and federal government
Insects are the unsung heroes of our planet, playing a crucial role in maintaining the balance of ecosystems and driving our food production. Without them, our world simply couldn’t function. Yet, these vital creatures are often misunderstood and overlooked.
At Ento Search, we bring over 20 years of expertise in entomology and invertebrate habitat research to the forefront.
We work closely with Australian businesses and government bodies to assess and manage the complex interactions between invertebrates and their environments.
Our consulting services are designed to maximise invertebrate diversity and promote environmental health, ensuring a sustainable future for our planet.
Species and habitat identification, population density surveys, identification of seasonal and climatic variations, baseline and long term monitoring
Identification of the presence and distribution invertebrates and habitat-specific vegetation and development of environmental management priorities
Species and Habitat assessment of invertebrate populations and plant diversity, including current status and potential for rehabilitation, habitat restoration and reintroduction
Examination and analysis of invertebrate and plant interactions
Recommendation, planning and project management of habitat restoration to maximise invertebrate diversity and density through the development of favourable habitats via revegetation and habitat reconstruction
Targeted species searches for rare, uncommon or habitat-specific species, plant-insect interaction investigations, life cycle discoveries/investigations
We are experts in our field, and our experience to ensures your project is conducted to the most rigorous standards and outcomes are realistic, actionable and of the highest quality
From inveterate identification and habitat assessment to rehabilitation, reintroduction and ongoing management – Ento Search adds value to the process every step of the way.
We champion invertebrates and their habitats, but we understand the economic realities. We balance the needs of the environment and financial pressures to deliver successful outcomes.
Our track record speaks for itself, with our successful habitat restoration and invertebrate reintroduction projects, Invertebrate identification including the discover of new species and extensive invertebrate collections
“With over 20 years of experience, EntoSearch is dedicated to promoting the critical role of invertebrate and habitat diversity in South Australia’s environment.
We have collaborated extensively with local businesses and governments to emphasise the importance of these vital ecosystems.
Our expertise spans invertebrate identification, relocation, reestablishment, habitat analysis, preservation, and redevelopment. From initial project scoping to population reestablishment and ongoing environmental management, Ento Search provides comprehensive consultancy and in-depth advice to ensure the health and sustainability of our natural world.

Since his teens, Alex has been fascinated by bugs.
First in his back yard, and then in the country and outback, Alex has studied the habitats and ecology of Australia’s invertebrates in close detail, developing an encyclopaedic knowledge of insects, their habitats and their interactions with the environment.
His expertise in habitat management and rehabilitation, developed throughout a career in Horticulture, allows him to bring to play a deep understanding of insects and plants and their symbiotic relationship.
Alex when he’s not working, can be found in the outback, searching for previously undiscovered insect species and studying their habitats.
